In a project organised by the Trust and the Casa della Memoria in Servigliano, an exhibition in Oxford of a fascinating series of photographs of rural Italy, taken by an unknown photographer and showing rare images of the Italian contadini as the main focus rather than the more usual bucolic incidentals. This is the very class of people who went on to shelter Allied escapers in their thousands, and well worthy of a moment in the spotlight. Some of the photos will be moving on in March to the International Photographic Festival FORMAT in Derby.
